Students Already Admitted Into Tertiary Institutions Not Legible For UTME Examination

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is here hereby informing the general public and intending candidates for 2017 UTME that students who had already already been admitted into any tertiary institution nationwide will not be eligible to sit for the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

This information was made public by the JAMB's Head of Information and Public Relations, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, who made this known on Monday 3rd March, that students who are not satisfied with their course should simply apply for change of degree.

He stated, "Students with matriculation numbers of universities are not eligible to sit for the UTME. If they are not satisfied with their chosen disciplines or course of study, they can ask for transfer or change of degree.’’

The JAMB spokesperson also expressed confidence that despite the hitches in the registration process being witnessed across the country, all 1.5m candidates expected to register for the 2017 UTME would be registered by the April 19th deadline.

He make it clear that there would be no extension to the April 19th deadline closing date of the 2017/2018 UTME registration, therefore aspiring candidates should ensure that they finish their registration processing within the speculated application open dates to avoid their applications being rejected or discarded.

JAMB's Head of Information and Public Relations, Dr. Fabian Benjamin also said that the exam body have arrested 25 persons for illegal registration and sale of 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) materials, and also warning candidates over patronizing such illegal persons.
